AMP Camps@NBP

AMP Rowing in conjunction with Nathan Benderson Park and Hudson Boat Works is pleased to offer the AMP CAMPS @NBP premium sculling camp from January 20-24, 2020.
AMP Camps @NBP will be held at North America’s “championship” rowing facility, Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida.  NBP’s rowing championship hosting pedigree boasts  numerous major events in the past few years including:
  • 2017 World Rowing Championships,
  • 2018 World Rowing Masters Regatta
  • 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships
  • 2019 US Rowing Youth Championships
  • 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships
AMP Camps @ NBP will offer expert coaching instruction for those athletes whose desire is to get themselves to a higher technical and performance level. All of the instruction will be done in singles sculls provided by Hudson Boat Works.  This camp is focussed on experienced scullers wanting to break through to the next level, by making technical breakthroughs that lead to increased boat speed.
The coaching staff for the 2019 AMP CAMPS @ NBP will be led by Al Morrow, former Canadian National Team Coach and multiple Olympic and World Championship medal winning coach; and Peter Cookson, former High Performance Director for Rowing Canada and coach of many successful club, university and national programs around the world.
AMP Rowing over the years has provided expert coaching to many sculling athletes around the world.  During the on water and off water training sessions, AMP Rowing coaches stress our time proven method of working on athlete movement to gain boat speed.  The camp will employ biomechanical feedback systems to demonstrate how making changes to athlete movement can lead to increased boat speed.

The 5 day camp will offer 12 on water sessions along with a number of off-water conditioning and debrief instructional sessions.  The use of video and feedback from the biomechanical systems on the boats will form the basis of several of the post-row debrief sessions.  The camp coaches will also offer rigging advice to ensure you are set up optimally in your boat to achieve greater boat speed.

Numbers for the camp will be kept small to ensure that each athlete gets intensive small group instruction. The athlete to coach ratio will never be greater than 1:4, so that each athlete gets sufficient time and feedback from the coaching staff.
